The Leaf Mascot has 7 different specials pending on the number of bars she has when a special is used. 1-Speed Up, 2-Bombs, 3-Back Shot, 4-Laser, 5-Multiplication, 6-Purification, and 7-Shield.

The plot line is so good. Any story about human survival thrills me. Our story starts out with two twins. One is weak and the other is not. Yet it is not in the way of a cliche. The strong one is more reserve and determine and the weak one is low in spirit and emotion.

When they come home and discover there parents dead they are attack and kidnapped to a place where survival of the fittest is literal and not just a figure of speech. The oldest and strongest twin is told to get rid of his brother because he was going to drag him down, he refuse, of course, at first. When his brother begins to whine he actually thinks of killing him because he’ll be dead weight.

Any show that has a character like that will suck me in even more. The reason why I think people don’t like this anime is because they think to hard. My advice is don’t think and just watch. The story will explain itself to you.

Just give it a try and not just three episodes, I mean c’mon there are only 11 episodes.

Watch it and give it a try. Please.

I’ve watched countless good anime in my time and Buso Renkin is considered to be a must watch one time hitter. It lacks in some very serious yet simple must haves in an anime like the follow up of a major battle that was suppose to take place but never did; it is still a good anime to watch simply to relax on a boring Saturday with nothing to do.

I was happy….then I was sad, confused, and then a bit mad. I mean, god! Harima shows up out of no where..and then he puts on that badass/sweet/stupid/love sick attitude, it just made me say,”GOD DAMMIT HARIMA! YOU ARE AN IDIOT! A BIG FAT ONE! PICK DAMMIT!

Karen x Imadori: This pairing is so cute…but Karen, girl, you are SUPER STRONG! Make him suffer, you don’t have to be a door map anymore!! CONTROL HIM!!!

Hanai x Yakumo: I was hoping for something other than “Friends” but I was wrong…*sighs* They are kinda way too….how can I say this…”familyish” to be BF and GF….I wish for this pairing, but now, it’s too weird for them to be a “item”.

Harima x Eri: They are such a cute couple!! But, stupid creators HAD TO GIVE THEM A HANG-CLIFFER!! I was like,”WTF. OMFG.” Give them a happy ending already!! Geezzzzz…..

Over all, I loved the Anime and Manga of School Rumble, weather it be crazy, misunderstood, or just sweet and caring. This anime touched my heart, and I mean it.

Now I will say there were a couple of things wrong with the series. One it was to short. If you’re going to have 11 episode at least make them an hour long or a half hour. Second the ending I like except for Tiz dying. I didn’t even see where she got shot at.

Other than that I didn’t think it was cliche @ all. Actually I hate cliche anime. For example a girl gets her feelings hurt or a guy she likes loves another. She comes face to face with them then say nothing and run away. I hate that. Or the character who is quiet but knows what they’re doing.

Oh I didn’t think Thor was pretty @ all he was just okay.

Attack power of long range spells is not determined by the magic defense stat, but by the attack stat. Magic defense, I think, unlocks spells, but does not boost their damage. So focusing on magic def is the worst thing to do for mages.

Personally, my opinions are opposite to that of yours… Air had more than its fair share of holes. The first two arcs were not very memorable at all, evident from my very vague recollection of its arcs in comparison to Kanon’s, even though I watched Air after Kanon.

While Kanon’s support cast’s personalities are easy to sum up in a phrase (could probably do that with Air as well), their background stories are definitely not, rivaling/surpassing that of Air’s.

On another note, Air’s conclusion was in my opinion its most troubling aspect. The ending wasn’t just terribly abstract, but also not nearly explained well enough. Countless questions are up for the viewers to answer for themselves, and most often just randomly guessing at what a few particular scenes meant.

Art and animation wise, I preferred Kanon’s as well, but the differences between them are quite minute, coming from the same studio and all. Air had a stronger OP in my opinion though.

To me, Kazuki goes through so much in such a short span that most people would have broken down and most likely committed suicide, yet he kept his optimism.

He saved Homunculus familiars and took Tokiko from someone that only cares about fighting and killing anything having to do with Homunculi to someone that has so much more depth to her.

She went from being almost robotic to someone human in my mind. The proof of that is in episodes 24-26 when Kazuki goes to the moon to battle Victor and then comes back to the planet.

In all to me, the series is set up nicely for so much more to happen to it, and when it happens, I’ll be in the front of the line to see what happens, to me, this is a great anime.

Actually you’ll see a lot less of Raki as the story goes on. The flashback arc is going to be another couple of eps. (2.5 volumes in 4 episodes? Nice.) and at the pace the anime is going it seems like it’ll get to the arcs without distractions pretty quickly.

Karura: I’m glad to see that another person has watched Beyblade way back when. And I agree that while extremely cheesy and and not that good, it was still enjoyable enough to keep watching. Though I really completed season one fully. I’ve seen episodes from Season 2, but I can’t remember most of them. :P

And the show wasn’t as good as Flint: The Time Detective, or god forbid, Medabots. The latter was awesome. :P

Beyblade, like Pokemon, had its origins in ancient children’s games. And like most ancient games, they are brutal.
(Pokemon is based on finding male crickets during mating season, put two in a container, and watch them try to kill each other. Kids search for the strongest crickets they could find for this fight for pride.)

Beyblade, however, came from tops. Real tops of hand carved wood the children made themselves, using the strongest materials they know.
The tips of the tops are made of metal, and depending on the purpose can be designed as lethal weapons. (more on that later)

Here are the basic rules; you spin the top towards your opponents in the dirt circle. The goal is to knock your opponent down so his top falls and stops, while your own top spins off the circle to safety. Any top that stopped dead would then be open-target to anyone who could smash their tops on top of it, “killing” it in some cases. The special tops designed to kill often are razor-sharp, because if you split your opponent’s top in half you can keep the fallen metal tip as a trophy.

But even the attackers must be careful, because if their own tops stop dead in the circle, they would be targeted too. The owner of the dead top could also try rescuing the prised possession by knocking it to safety with another top.

Here is where Beyblade imitated; in the original version, you are allowed to keep your tops spinning by whipping it with a rope, thus controlling the movement and direction of the top.

It is quite sad really; the Beyblade is a shadow of its predecessors, with toys that aren’t hand crafted (and as such you don’t care if it is damaged), with no skill involved (spinning a top is art, let along whipping it), and worst of all, it is childsafe. There is no point playing a spin-top battle if you know your top is in no danger of being smashed to pieces and your opponent walked off with a new scalp.

It’s sad, I find myself watching Bee Train anime without fail, and yet always punching myself for it. The complete and utter failure at humor makes it very dry

Anyway, Bokurano really does seem to be moving a bit slower than I thought it would – I guess it’ll be a 24-26 episode series after all. On the other hand it seems to be paying really close attention to the characterisation side of things, and I love the opening theme tune. It’ll be interesting to see how the next kid copes in battle, especially with that very unusual outlook of his.

I’m still waiting for Darker than Black #4 to finish its download but I knew there was something odd about Mai – the star connection was the giveaway really. The flowers near Hell’s Gate reminded me of those in Wolf’s Rain – I don’t know whether the similarity is intentional or not but it’s very intriguing. It’s possibly my favourite of the season so far.

Bad points for me is an extreme lack of animation, especially during the music pieces. Although I can perfectly understand why it is so.

Otherwise, the story line is definitely one of my favorites

Rozen still being alive isn’t that hard to imagine, this series does have a magical basis, not like living dolls are very realistic in the first place.

Suigin Tou being a mistake by Rozen is only your conjecture. She is *incomplete*, for reasons unknown to us.

Suigin Tou being repaired is not a fanboi fix, as it was intended from the start when Shinku refused to take her Rosa Mystica, I can’t imagine Rozen leaving something like that lying around.

As for the “For those unwilling to do the maths, this is approximately 67 years, and is a line borrowed from Shinku and Suigintou’s first reunion in the manga. Placing it in Traumend is a pointless blunder, however, as it means that it has been 67 years since the first season.” You have completely missed the point, for she is referring to their first battle 67 years ago. She did not initially remember her recent battle with Shinku because of her repairs.

Enju making a living doll isn’t all that “amazing” or “plot-breaking” either. Suigin Tou herself managed to achieve animation without a Rosa Mystica. This within itself is enough proof that the Rosa Mystic, whilst special, is not a requirement for a living doll.
Enju’s long life is also not really anything big, purely because it’s something that is well within the realms of the world this series is based in.

I’m thinking heads exploding. Many heads exploding. It’ll be fun!

Darker than Black is pushing all of my right buttons. I’m loving that show more than I should. It’s progenitor’s (wolf’s rain anyone?) tended to be awesome shows that ended badly though…. so I fear for the lives of the leads.

On another note, it is true that the manga also gives focus to side characters, but in volume 6 and 7, you will feel that the main characters become more and more the side ones.

Anyway, the last volumes are as good as the first ones, and I could never recommend this manga enough.

The magic about GGS is that despite it being serialised in a loli moe magazine, Dengeki Daioh, somehow you don’t feel any moe or lust towards the females. That’s a great feeling to have.

Mya, I’m loath to name a single favourite when there are various anime series that I love for very different reasons. If I whittled it down to a final four, it would probably be Wolf’s Rain, Kurau, Aria and Honey and Clover (season 1).

Anyways, your reviews for Gonzo’s anime aren’t half bad. Most of them are dead on, except I think you failed miserably at Red Garden and Gantz.

Can’t believe you missed out the godly Gatekeepers and GK 21. Basilisk.. Pumpkin Scissors’s 2nd season (13 onwards) is as good as any anime you’re gonna get.

Considering how Bokurano is now the best spring anime, thanks to the powerful source material, it’s hard not to appreciate GONZO’s material scouting department.

PS: you can check whether there are hurricane or not on TV, and say if you found one, you can assign sprites to help you taking care of animal for the next day. By the time the hurricane clearing up your animal should still be content with you.
PPS: Once you got a dog ball from won, there are ways to clone that ball. Just simply put your dog behind you while you are facing a wall in your house. Throw the ball over the wall, and let it bounce towards your dog. When your dog tried to acquire the ball, quickly take the ball and you should see 2 balls instead of 1. (this is one of the way to prevent losing the ball in the future) :)

It’s not a completely appalling movie… just very am-dram and naff. Isolated from its superior sister titles it’d be a kinda fun, cheesy experience. I’d never recommend it over them, though, and it’d be at the very bottom of the list labelled as a mild curiosity.

This entry lists the interview with the Fafner seiyuus. When asked about the love triangle, Maya’s seiyuu excluded herself and said you have it all wrong… she pointed straight from Kazuki to Soushi’s seiyuu LOL. Just read it and you will find out. And Kazuki’s seiyuu’s most memorable moment was screaming Soushi’s name in the end of ep 23 so yea it doesn’t get any more blatant than that. You can also see official art of Kazuki drawn all seme and Soushi uke aswell as on the covers of drama cd’s and dvds. In one dvd, Kazuki compared his relationship with Soushi to his mom and dad (Gone Arrive).That was when Soushi gets in trouble(I’m not going to say exactly what happens^^). And like Karura mentioned in a previous post that the memorable moments are Kazuki!!!!!Soushi!!!!!! haha … so true. Kazuki goes crazy when Soushi is in trouble and he doesn’t do that for anyone else. In one episode when Maya goes to meet Kazuki the first thing he asks is, where is Soushi??poor Maya.

ROTK= Romance of the Three Kingdoms. There’s a whole section about it on this blog.

While Tenma is still very clueless, she has made some important changes. She’s mellowed out considerably from the start of the series, for one. There’s a rather significant scene around Ch.196 or so where she advises Eri to go after Harima, so that she doesn’t have to live with regrets. If you look back to the start of the series, that was exactly the sort of advice that Eri and the others had to push Tenma to follow to progress with Karasuma.

Harima is actively trying to resist change, but it’s become somewhat of a downhill battle for him over the more recent chapters. His reactions to Eri in Ch.197, 210, 216, and the start of Ch.217 suggest that his tunnel vision is starting to crack. Of course, the manner of Harima’s reappearance will be important in deciding which way the story progresses. There’s tricky balance here between developing his character and running the risk of making him act out of character.

Eri may have dropped most of her tsun side, but she never really had all that much tsun to begin with – she simply reciprocates Harima’s attitude towards her, throughout the series. She’s not after just any man (her encounter with Harima in the temple establishes that her interest in him is linked to his particular personality), and to have her play along with the tsundere archetype even after she decides that she likes him is very limiting on her character.

When you look at it, Eri has shown more strength of character and maturity in the past few chapters than any other character in the series. She completely sets aside Yakumo’s outrageously immature behavior regarding the slap (which was quite a surprising role reversal), she shows a lot of compassion for her friends, and her clever test to gauge Harima’s feelings in Ch.214 was on the level of something that Akira might cook up. In most series, the hero has to learn to understand the weaknesses of the tsundere and like her in spite of them. In this series, Eri overcomes her own weaknesses and becomes a more likable person through her own efforts. The glowing commentary given in Ch.185 and 216 is just the byproduct of that.

As for Yakumo, up until recently, she’s mainly been used as just a foil to explore Eri’s weaknesses and character development. The recent role reversal has made her much more human, and has allowed her to become more of a character in her own right. By changing her conflict with Eri from a one-sided one to a two-sided one, Yakumo’s character is more open for further character development.

Incidentally, Sara didn’t convince Yakumo not to give up on Harima. Sara originally thought that Yakumo was giving up on him out of guilt, when the expression on Yakumo’s face convinced her that this was something that Yakumo genuinely wanted to do. I’d be extremely surprised if Yakumo suddenly takes back what she said in Ch.116 and 117 and starts going after Harima.

As for reading SR – we can’t gauge if this is a reset or not until the next time Harima makes his appearance. If you still find yourself frustrated, try reading on a biweekly or monthly basis. I’m guessing that SR will be a much enjoyable read once it’s finished and people can marathon the entire series from start to finish without waiting on the next development.

The distinction that I’m making is between plot development and character development. In a slice of life, for example, while there need not be any “end goal”, the characters’ personalities and ideas can still be affected by their experiences (that’s not to suggest that SR necessarily is a slice of life, of course). Eri in volume 16 is quite a changed person from Eri in volume 1.

Harima is a tricky case. If he is clearly shown to have feelings for Eri, then the plot has a definite direction and the story becomes predictable. While he retains his interest in Tenma, his views towards Eri have undergone some drastic changes as of late (to the point where it may be a source of inner conflict for him). It’s difficult to write off Ch.117 as a reset until we see the manner in which Harima comes out of his absence from school.

In SR, we don’t have set direction, nor do we know if there is one (although there are no shortage of guesses from the readers). The only thing that we really know is that the opening line “Love – what a mysterious word”, sets the story up to be a commentary on love. It doesn’t matter who ends up with whom; what matters is how the characters grow and mature as they have their first romantic experiences. Every relationship seems to try to capture the experience from a slightly different angle.

Personally, I feel that SR is at its best when it captures the silliness of adolescence – especially looking back at it in retrospect. There seems to be a lot of pressure from the reader base for SR to develop into a full fledged romance story (especially with the focus on Eri and Harima’s storyline), but I don’t see any real need for the series to stick too closely to the rules of the genre.

When Season 1 first came out, most people were too busy enjoying the interactions between the characters to care about deciphering which way the story was going. The more you sit back and let the story take its course, the more enjoyable the read.

Now, here’s a little information for you- do you know what a review is? It’s an opinion, yes, that’s right, an opinion- and there’s absolutely no way you can be objective. I personally happened to believe this episode was a load of crap, and if you think the opposite, that’s fine. Unless you live in an oppressive regime which enforces a love of Mai-Otome, then there’s nothing wrong with disliking it.

Oh, and next time you want to insult someone, at least try to get your grammar correct. It’s “you’re an amateur”, which is no insult since I am not a professional paid writer, and since I’m aiming for a different career path, I probably never will be.

To me, reading your review was that of reading a child’s summary on a movie they just saw then giving their thoughts on it all. I say this because you did nothing more than that, you didn’t really go in depth with this and try to write a “actual objective review”.

Instead you hated the episode, you let your bias show, never really gave reasons for why it was bad other than you just disliked it and you made yourself look stupid by attempting to fool people w/a review of said episode.

Ex. of bias:

Well unfortunately for you, not everyone will take another’s word on the internet as the word of God and just instantly believe any random junk thats thrown out there.

I, for one liked the episode. Also as the guy stated above, I don’t believe its time to review this OVA yet just because we’ve only seen half of it just because so much crap can happen in the next 2 that could easily flip everything upside down. Only an amateur wanna-be writer would sit here and spout out random information in a horrible attempt to write a review.

To prove your an amateur who allows their personal feelings to get in the way of a review thus writing not a review but a -really- long piece of crap thread that belongs on some forum board… All I’ve got to do is point out that your 4th “observation / speculation” (the one about those who have gone missing) virtually screams that you didn’t even watch the first episode then attempted to criticize the creators of the series on something you weren’t even paying attention to, to begin with.

Your just another “know it all, wanna-be, amateur” who doesn’t wish to put effort into their work but rather just bitch and moan about something, so instead of trying to make real reviews you sit here and spout out your lame opinions hoping that an idiot or two will come along and praise you just because they agree with your -personal opinion of said show-.

I think it’s the reviewers themselves who try convince each other that anime is something else than mere (entertaining) cartoons. Otherwise it would mean that all that time spent with anime maybe wasn’t worth it, don’t you think?

Abenobashi shared many of Excel’s strengths and weaknesses but it wasn’t as funny in the second half. The more serious aspects began to be more interesting by that point and I wholeheartedly agree that Sasshi did indeed get annoying after a while. Although it was a fun show overall, the ending was a true mess: I think any one of us could do an entire editorial article on the subject of the notorious Gainax Ending, of which Abenobashi is a prime example!

dsong, Sana Jisushi: I always found in-character Ayu the hardest to write for but making her evil earlier on would have made her entries too similar to Nayuki’s. I couldn’t resist in the end, though.

tidal: If Nayuki had a Death Note, it would have been over long ago.

Atvaark: Not really, tbh; it had its moments but mostly sent me to sleep. I’ll be posting my ‘Final Thoughts’ review later in the week.

did you like the new kanon serie?

I loved the first have of Abenobashi. We could barely breathe while watching the first dvd. When it started to get more serious it started to become a drag. I love that first disc, like the second disc and don’t need to rewatch third and fourth one.

Negima!? had the same team behind it as Pani Poni Dash, so there was no shortage of PPD-related jokes and such. But some of the jokes were too… deep for the casual foreigner, imho.

Wererat42: I’ve read most of what Baka-Tsuki have translated of Haruhi so far and I might review it when I catch up. Scrapped Princess and Kino are actually the two I was thinking of buying first- I was put off a bit by the writing style of .hack//AI buster but I feel ready to give some other light novels a go next time I order books and manga.

Martin: Banner of the Stars will probably be my next DVD purchase. I’m quite interested in reading the novels too.

Oh, and this “parody” is not funny in the slightest.

The relationship between the two leads was a refreshing change for a start: there’s no sickly-sweet romance taking over and they’re both likable and easy to relate to. The background to their story impressed me as well: the Abh have a political system, distinctive customs and even their own language! Not everyone will notice these details at first glance but the effort that has gone into the writing and characterisation is really quite something.

I haven’t heard of any UK DVD release for Banner of the Stars though so chances are I’ll get impatient and import them. Believe me, once you’ve seen the first series, you’ll want to see the rest!

Also, some backstory on Rozen to help explain some things. Rozen is based on the Count of St. Germain(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comte_de_Saint-Germain), who is said to have perfected the Philosopher’s stone, and have made a homonculus with it that had intellect and reason, as well as the ability to move(Hence the whole “rosa mystica” thing, also explaining the long life, as the Philosopher’s stone was said to be able to make an elixir to make humans younger), as well as claiming to be hundreds of years old.

1.) Well, I’ve answered the age question, and I’ve never seen or heard anything about them being seperate parts of a whole one.
2.) Rozen never said Junk was a failure, Shinku did. If everything is for the sake of creating Alice, then pain/loneliness/etc. IS crucial to being human, explaining everything else.
4.) Well, Bara may have her own one. Enju may just have made a new one for Suigintou, not had her originally intended one. They just seem to be memory/power storers, like batteries. Maybe putting more than one in at once causes explosions/malfunctions, as seen with Bara.

7.) I’m pretty sure that’s what Laplace said, so.
8.) Yes, but considering Rozen is obviously hundreds of years old, 150 years or so is pretty recent.
9.) It’d make sense, people go to absurd lengths for ego. I consider the manga to be a completely seperate story, as there’s completely different character personalities/events.
10.) Suigintou managed to send feathers out of the N-field while in it, don’t see why Kirakishou can’t just send vines through it and aet Hina’s body.
tl;dr

As I said somewhere above, yes I hope in time everything will be explained and clarified to my satisfaction, but for now I’m afraid I’m of the mind that the anime writers and possibly even Peach Pit themselves will be pulling answers out of their backsides because they haven’t thought far enough ahead.

1.) The Rosa Mystica are not all just parts of one thing, they’re all seperate. We also have no proof that Rozen himself wants them to fight, the only ones who talk about the game are Enju and crew. Why is he still alive? It’s an animoot/manga. People can live forever if they’re magic, it’s one of those things you just don’t question.

2.) As said several times in the series, Rozen lost Suigintou’s plans and thus didn’t finish her. He gave her a Roza Mystica eventually since he of course DID start making her, so why not?

3.) I think the ’started working on her while in the N-field’ is the best explanation.

4.) I’m personally assuming Enju fixed her, as they say only ‘father’ can repair people, but Enju WAS his apprentice. Enju could very well have had the ability to make Rosa Mystica, and maybe he had Suigintou’s all along.

5.) That screencap is from episode 2 or 3 of the first season. The second time she says that is in the episode she comes back, where she obviously has amnesia.

6.) …That’s not in any way a plot-hole, it’s just something unexplained. There’s also no proof that Laplace is working with/for Rozen, just Enju.

7.) The Alice Game is always on, from what I understand. Laplace just said that since they all thought every doll was ‘awake’, so it was perfect timing to actually begin in earnest. As for Hina, she only loses her ability to gain power from Shinku after Souseiseki loses her rosa mystica, the first true ‘loss’ in the game.

8.) Maybe Enju is a recent apprentice of Rozen, or, since the Rosa Mystica seems to be a sort of Philospher’s stone, they’re just usin’ their magicz to keep alive. There is no reason to assume he can’t make Rosa Mystica.

9.) Since Laplace and Enju are the only ones constantly talking about the Alice Game, it’s possible that Rozen didn’t originally intend to do it that way, but thought it might be a decent alternative after Enju and Laplace were tricking the dolls to try and prove that Enju was superior.

10.) Kirakishou could still use Hinaichigo’s body, I don’t see the problem there.
